We’ll discuss the upcoming AMWA 2016 Medical Writing & Communication Conference in Denver, CO, October 5-8, 2016.
We will review the below agenda to inform you of what a national conference is like and answer any questions you may have.

2. Is it worth going? Personal experiences
a. Gain knowledge to put on resume or use at work
b. Networking – be vocal, it’s easy to introduce yourself. Bring cards
c. Speed networking Thursday at 4pm, Friday at 11am
d. Job board and vendor booths
3. Format of Conf
a. Pre-Conf classes (The Writing Clinic – An Interactive Small-Group Writing Intensive and One-on-One Mentoring: Taxonomic Analysis and Revision of Medical Writing, extra fees).
b. Thursday at 10:30am: New to AMWA and Medical Communication Session
c. Credit Workshops versus Education Sessions
d. Workshops with fee and homework (due 9 Sept): Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
e. Education Sessions free, part of registration: Thursday, Friday, Saturday
f. Plan schedule ahead of time, if possible
a. Thursday: Dine around
b. Friday at 3pm: High Tea
c. Friday at 6:30pm: AMWA chapter dinners (anyone want to organize this?)
d. Saturday at 12:30pm: Sablack Awards lunch
a. Conference registration fee: $695 AMWA Member, $795 Nonmember
i. Onsite conference registration fee: $750 AMWA Member, $850 Nonmember
ii. AMWA Workshop registration fee, $200, AMWA Member, $300 Nonmember
b. Generally $1,500-$2,000 total with airline, hotel, conf reg, classes, food
c. Ask your employer to pay
d. Get a roommate!
