WANTED: Chapter secretary and regional coordinators

By on September 25, 2016

Do you want to network more with your peers? Baltimore, Frederick (in Maryland), and Central Virginia need new Regional Coordinators, and needs a new Secretary! To keep this an active chapter, we need your help. There are many benefits to volunteering with our organization:

  • You become more visible among your peers and potential clients/employers.
  • You can build a network of professional contacts who can refer business to you or recommend you for a position.
  • You can learn new skills and hone your current ones.
  • You can make new friends.

Typically, the Regional Coordinator arranges up to two events per year. These are usually lunches or dinners at a restaurant, but you are free to plan other types of events or activities as well. The Regional Coordinator

  • arranges meeting venues
  • selects topics to be discussed
  • sends announcements to advertise meetings

In addition, you will have the opportunity to lead the discussion during these usually lively meetings.

Also, the AMWA Mid-Atlantic Chapter is accepting nominations for the position of Chapter Secretary. Serving as Chapter Secretary is an excellent opportunity to network with AMWA members across the country and build leadership experience. The Secretary

  • schedules the monthly board meeting
  • distributes the agenda prior to the monthly board meeting
  • takes the official minutes
  • maintains records of all previous minutes in order to prepare an annual report

These are great opportunities to help others and to help yourself in the process!
